What is Singapore's place in the AI/ML revolution?
In September, the #techforgood community came together to hear from two industry leaders, Dr. Sigrid Rouam, MS, PhD from EFG International and Dr. Leslie Teo from AI Singapore, in a panel moderated by Giuseppe Enriquez.
A powerful reminder from the event: Singapore can punch above its weight. As one speaker said, "Even though we are small, we can solve global problems." The discussion touched on Singapore’s role in AI/ML, including the development of SEA-LION, Southeast Asia’s first LLM model. Both speakers stressed how crucial mentorship is in this fast-evolving field— having experienced professionals to guide you can make all the difference. As AI continues to advance, it is also essential to keep data security and privacy considerations at the forefront.
One idea that got people talking: In the AI era, the most important skills might not be technical. It could be the artists, with their deep understanding of human connection, who truly unlock AI’s potential.
