better.sg Limited ("better.sg", "we", "us", or"our") is a registered charity in Singapore. We are a volunteer-run, tech-for-good community dedicated to building open-source digital tools and supporting the non-profit sector through technology.
We are committed to protecting the personal data of the individuals we interactwith — including volunteers, donors, partner organisations, beneficiaries, and website visitors. • With volunteers and project leads within better.sg, strictly for the purpose of coordinating and managing projects you are involved in
• With partner non-profit organisations, where you have been matched to support their work, and with your knowledge
• With third-party service providers who assist us in operating our platforms and services (e.g., email,event management, cloud storage), bound by appropriate confidentiality obligations
• With regulatory authorities (e.g., the Commissioner of Charities, IRAS) where required by law
• With other parties with your explicit consent
Where personal data is shared with third parties, we take reasonable steps to ensure those parties protect the data appropriately.
We take reasonable steps to safeguard personal data from unauthorised access, disclosure, modification, or loss.
These measures include:
• Limiting access to personal data to authorised individuals only
• Using password-protected and, where possible, encrypted systems
• Encouraging volunteers who handle personal data to follow good data hygiene practices
• Regularly reviewing and removing personal data that is no longer needed
As a volunteer-run organisation, we acknowledge that our security measures may not match those of large commercial organisations. We are committed to continuous improvement and welcome feedback on our data protection practices.
We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes forwhich it was collected, or as required by law. In general:
• Volunteer records are retained for the duration of your involvement with better.sg, and for a reasonable period thereafter for reference and recognition purposes
• Event registration data is typically retained for up to two years
• Donor records are retained for seven years to comply with accounting and charity reporting requirements
• Website analytics data isretained in aggregated, anonymised form
You may request deletion of your personal data at any time (see Section 10), subject to any legal retention obligations.
As an individual whose personal data we hold, you have the following rights underthe PDPA:
You may request access to the personal data we hold about you, and information about how it has been used or disclosed in the past 12 months.
You may request that we correct any inaccurate or incomplete personal data we hold about you.
You may withdraw your consent for us to collect, use, or disclose your personal data at any time, with reasonable notice. Please note that withdrawal of consent may affect our ability to continue providing certain services or communications to you.
You may request that we stop using your personal data for certain purposes, including direct marketing communications.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact our Data Protection Officer (seeSection 12). We will respond to your request within 30 days, or notify you if more time is needed.
We may send you newsletters, event invitations, and community updates based on your involvement with better.sg. You may unsubscribe from such communications at any time by:
• Clicking the unsubscribe link in any email communication

Please note that even if you opt out of marketing communications, we may still contact you for transactional or administrative purposes related to your ongoing involvement (e.g., project updates, donation receipts).
Our website and communications may contain links to third-party websites orplatforms. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those external sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party services you use in connection with better.sg activities, including but not limited to:
• Giving.sg and donation platforms
• Eventbrite, Luma, or other event platforms
• Workato, Typeform, Sengrid, Mailchimp, Google Workspace,or other collaboration tools
• Slack, Telegram or other community communication platforms
