It's the internal playbook we use to build and govern every tech-for-good project at Better.sg, now open to the whole community. Over the past two months, this approach has been pilot-tested on internal initiatives, equipping project teams with direct access to API credits (such as OpenAI/Claude Code keys).
Rather than viewing AI as a trend, we treat it as a practical technical partner.
Project teams now have access to AI tooling to help scaffold UI, debug faster, and pick up context on unfamiliar code, so a membership change doesn't automatically mean lost momentum. It's not there to replace the thinking; it's there so the people who stay aren't stuck doing the work of the people who left.
It keeps projects moving forward, ensuring that limited resources translate into maximum social impact.
Rigorous Governance for Social Impact
Deploying advanced tools like AI within the social sector requires a high degree of responsibility. This is why the playbook places an absolute premium on governance. As these tools often sit close to community and beneficiary data, this comes with the same rigour as everything else in the playbook: clear guidelines on what AI can touch, how data is handled, and where human review stays mandatory. Innovating fast and protecting the people we serve aren't in tension here. Proper governance is what makes the speed safe to use.
