For social workers, volunteers, and individuals in need, navigating fragmented information across multiple sources can be overwhelming and time-consuming. Schemes.sg was created to change this by providing a smart, AI-powered search platform that simplifies how people discover relevant support schemes—whether it's for financial aid, healthcare, education, or essential goods.

Since its launch in 2021, Schemes.sg has grown into a centralized repository of over 300 assistance schemes from both government and non-profit organizations. With the recent launch of Schemes.sg v3 the platform now integrates GenAI-powered search and a chatbot assistant, making it even easier for users to find the help they need.

Our Solution

Schemes.sg is built on three key pillars:

• 🔍 Smart Search & Discovery – A robust database that allows users to search for assistance schemes using natural language, just like a Google search, surfacing the most relevant results instantly.
• 💬 AI Chat Assistant – A conversational chatbot that helps users refine their search, answer questions about each scheme, and provide additional details such as eligibility and contact information.
• 🌍 Multi-Language Accessibility – To ensure inclusivity, the chatbot can translate information into different languages, breaking down language barriers for non-English-speaking users.

How We Built It

The development of Schemes.sg v3 has been a collaborative effort by a diverse team of volunteers—from software engineers and data scientists to social workers and marketing professionals.

• AI-powered search using NLP and sentence-transformers for better results.
• OpenAI ChatGPT for evaluating model accuracy and enhancing chatbot conversations.
• FAISS indexing to speed up search retrieval.
• Firebase backend for hosting the whole infrastructure.
