Cause Overview

Okay or Not is dedicated to fostering open and constructive conversations about casual racism in everyday life. Through an interactive experience, we provide users with the opportunity to evaluate crowdsourced statements on whether they are acceptable or not, encouraging critical reflection on societal attitudes towards race.

By enabling users to see how their views compare with others, we aim to create a more empathetic and informed community and use the power of dialogue to promote understanding and unity.

Example of How the Project Worked

A web-based mobile site was created which presents the user a list of 15 statement with a simple question - is this statement okay or not okay? After answering the statements, users were shown how their responses stacked up against other people. Demographics were collected so that specific comparisons could also be done (e.g. with other people in the same racial group, age range etc).

Project Status

OkayOrNot.sg was an early Better.sg project that was launched successfully and used during several Racial Harmony Day activities within Singapore-based teams of a few international organisations. The team also created a teaching guide to be used alongside the tool. The project has since been retired in favour of othe diversity and inclusion related projects such as ToBeYou.sg.
