Edukit
A Tutor-Tutee Matching Platform dedicated to serving less privileged students.
About this project
Overview
At Edukit, we are dedicated to using technology to make a difference in the lives of underprivileged students by addressing the challenges faced by educational institutions that provide subsidized tutoring. Our goal is to solve the pain-points experienced by social service offices, tutor-tutee matching platforms, and tutors themselves. Edukit is building a tool that streamlines and enhances the process of matching tutors to students, ensuring that those who need educational support the most can access it with ease and efficiency.
Our Solution
At the heart of ourwork is a platform specifically designed to match tutors and students effectively with full customization, so that any organization can adopt the tool to speed up their processes. Matching tutors with tutees manually is difficult and time consuming because of the many factors involved - timing availability, travelling time, tutor strengths, and much more. This takes up toa week of work for Heartware Network, an organization that we are working with to roll out our tool. With our automatic matching system, it can reduce the time taken to match to just a few minutes, greatly reducing the workload strain and bottleneck caused by matching on social service agencies, allowing them to expand their services.
What We've Accomplished
Previously, we successfully built and implemented a specialized tutor-student matching tool for two different organizations, ensuring that hundreds of students have been paired with the right tutors. However, because these are special-built to the specific organization's needs, they are not scalable. So, we are currently working on a customizable matching tool and working to roll it out with the social service organization, Heartware Network.
Next Steps and Future Vision
Our mission doesn't stop here. We plan to reach out to other organizations within the subsidized tuition space to explore how our matching platform can be used to further their impact. We also plan in the long-term to build other tools that support such social service organizations. By understanding their unique needs, we aim to continue developing tech solutions that create real, measurable change for underprivileged students. Whether it's through refining our existing tools or building new ones, Edukit is committed to making education more accessible and effective for all.
