Better.sg is a dynamic, volunteer-driven registered charity dedicated to leveraging technology for social good in Singapore with over 2,000 volunteers. We have been supported by organizations such as The Majurity Trust, Meta Singapore, Twilio and others.
Our volunteers have developed and deployed innovative digital tools to address a range of societal issues, collaborating as a multidisciplinary team. We have engaged with non-profits to help them find solutions to their technology challenges. We organise the largest tech for good conference in Singapore, Beacon.
We think the next chapter of Better.sg requires focused leadership to lead us to the next chapter. As CEO, your role would be the shape the future of the community with the board and its volunteer leaders, and also structure the organization for future success.
Role of the CEO
- Leadership: Provide visionary and strategic leadership to the community, ensuring alignment with Better.sg’s mission and values.
- Strategy Development: Develop and implement strategic plans to expand Better.sg’s impact, including identifying new opportunities for tech-driven social initiatives and developing new partnerships
- Fundraising: Support fundraising efforts (which will be led by the board) by engaging with donors, grantors, and corporates.
- Operational Management: Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring effective implementation of projects and initiatives.
- Advocacy and Representation: Represent Better.sg in public forums, media, and with governmental and non-governmental stakeholders to advocate for the use of technology in social good.
What are we looking for
Better.sg is a unique organization unlike any other which needs to forge its own path. We are therefore looking for individuals who relish the opportunity to create a new model in Singapore’s non-profit space.
Prior seniority is not a requirement. If you think you are ‘too junior’ for the job but otherwise perfect, you should apply!
Passion for social good and the non-profit space
- Demonstrated commitment to social impact through previous roles in non-profit organizations, social enterprises, or community initiatives.
- A genuine desire to leverage technology for societal betterment, aligning with Better.sg’s mission to address societal issues through innovative digital tools.
Experience working in technology
- Proven background in the technology sector, with a solid understanding of how to harness digital tools for social good.
- Familiarity with the latest technological trends and their potential applications in solving social problems.
Experience leading teams
- Extensive experience in a leadership role, managing multidisciplinary teams comprising both technical and non-technical members.
- Ability to inspire, motivate, and guide a diverse group of volunteers and staff towards achieving common goals.
A history of building partnerships with others
- Track record of successfully building and nurturing partnerships with various stakeholders, which can include other non-profits, donors, government bodies, and community organizations.
- Strong networking skills to expand Better.sg’s reach and influence within the tech-for-good ecosystem.
No ego
- A humble and collaborative leadership style, valuing input from all team members and fostering a culture of inclusivity and mutual respect.
- Willingness to put the organization’s mission and team’s success above personal recognition or accolades.
