Not everything you read on the internet is true, and not everything you think you know for sure is correct. Discover your misperceptions, compare your understanding of issues against others, and find out what is real and what are just #fakenews or #alternativefacts.
This tool uses a simple 10-question quiz interface to playfully get users to think about what is real news and what might be fake news. At the end of the quiz, the results educate users on what the correct answer really is, and also shares some interesting demographic information to highlight that they may be in an “echo chamber” where people like them tend to also believe and spread the same type of fake news. Interestingly, certain narratives tended to emerge as to why certain demographic groups believed certain types of fake news but not others. For policy makers, it also provided interesting insight as to where these demographic “bubbles” existed, so that they could take targeted action to address misperceptions by certain groups.
